Sitting at my Ono Sendai

How do you realize someone’s changed your life

Kurt Vonnegut died today (by today I mean April 11th, 2007). I’m going to miss him, I never knew him, but it’s painful to see brilliant minds leave this world. Sometimes these things hit you at the wrong time. Today was the wrong time, but I’m not going to break down. I’ll remember Vonnegut. I remember.
The books of Bokonon once said on the subject of parting:
It is never a mistake to say good-bye.
No, it is not. Hopefully we’ll see each other some day. I hope his last rites are administered properly. Maybe I’m just crazy, but I think he was onto something.

The Last Rites of the Bokononism
I know you’re repeating this somewhere, thanks once again

God made mud.
God got lonesome.
So God said to some of the mud, “Sit up!”
“See all I’ve made,” said God, “the hills, the sea, the sky, the stars.”
And I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around.
Lucky me, lucky mud.
I, mud, sat up and saw what a nice job God had done.
Nice going, God.
Nobody but you could have done it, God! I certainly couldn’t have.
I feel very unimportant compared to You.
The only way I can feel the least bit important is to think of all the mud that didn’t even get to sit up and look around.
I got so much, and most mud got so little.
Thank you for the honor!
Now mud lies down again and goes to sleep.
What memories for mud to have!
What interesting other kinds of sitting-up mud I met!
I loved everything I saw!
Good night.
I will go to heaven now.
I can hardly wait…
To find out for certain what my wampeter was…
And who was in my karass…
And all the good things our karass did for you.
Amen.

I’m not much for religion, but sometimes you can’t help but wonder.

It sounds silly, but with today, I feel like crying. Maybe some good will come out of it.

Good night internets, I’ll deal with you more tomorrow I guess.

Update_0: Two more things, several days later. I got mentioned, which isn’t as important as this. Kurt Vonnegut on the Daily Show ^_^ does a heart good. We are the right kind of people, he is the rightest kind of person.

I wonder about the whole religion aspect as well, not to worry. And you know how my pesky morals are…or lack thereof.
I like that extract. Made me think a lot.
